Cypress trees are RELICS of the ICE AGE, a time when global temperatures declined. Plants from high-latitude temperate and frigid zones migrated to low-latitude areas. After the Ice Age ended the temperatures in the low-latitude areas rose again. Temperate- and frigid-zone plants that grew in low-latitude areas gadually dissappeared, leaving only remnants in mid- and high-elevation communities.

* 拉拉山, La La Shan Forest (Mt. LaLa), Taiwan.
